Midsommar
Midsommar
Dear Scandis and Scanfans,
We warmly invite you to the highly-anticipated Midsommar celebration! This is one of the largest and most important Scandinavian holidays, and it's widely known around the world. Although it is celebrated slightly differently in all the Nordic countries, we'll bring you some of the most distinctly Swedish Midsommar traditions. As a crucial part of the celebration, we'll make flower crowns (midsommarkransar), sing the classic Swedish Midsommar songs (who doesn't love Små grodorna!), and dance in a circle. Food is also important! We'll serve Västerbottensostpaj (Västerbotten cheese pie) and a vegan quiche made by Skogen, as well as some other snacks, and soda. This will be our last event of Trinity Term, and there can be no better way to end the year!
Midsommar will take place at University Parks at 2 PM on Saturday, the 14th of June. We'll provide all supplies for making flower crowns, just make sure to bring your own flowers, and take your own alcohol and extra picnic foods if you wish! Bringing a blanket to sit on would be great, as we'll be outside.
We cannot wait to see many of you here!
Skål,
The Committee
